We arrived at the parking lot and the first thing the agent said was “That’s a truck, so it’s an oversized vehicle, which is $20/day”. I drive a Toyota Tacoma, which is not a full sized pick up truck. It is about the same size as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is what was parked next to my truck. That customer said he did not pay an oversized vehicle fee. The website makes you input the make, model, color, and license numbers when you make the reservation, and then it gives you the price. To find out when you arrive that parking is double the price because your vehicle is a small pickup truck is unacceptable. This is a predatory business practice to gouge the customer simply because you can. You can’t tell me that it costs you as a business twice what a regular vehicle costs to store and park, simply because it is a pickup truck. I find it reasonable for someone driving a large or full sized truck or SUV, since it takes up more space than a normal car that the fee should be higher. But for a smaller sized truck, double the price is a bit excessive to say the least. If we had more time, we would have taken our business elsewhere. The agent did apologize and she was able to offer us a discount price that was lower. I certainly appreciate that. The van driver that brought us to the airport was courteous and nice. However the van driver that picked us up was a different story. In my opinion, this driver has no business being behind the wheel of any vehicle. His impatience and ego alone would be enough for me to not want to share a road with him. He cut off several drivers, at one point cutting off someone so he could get to the far left lane, just to cut more people off getting to the far right lane all in a very short distance. He was sounding the horn constantly. At a light that had barely turned green, we were the 5th or 6th car in line and he was beeping like crazy at the driver in front of us to go. That driver couldn’t go, because there were 5 cars in front of him that weren’t moving. It is my understanding that in New York City, sounding the horn for unnecessary reasons is illegal. The driver also didn’t wait for a green light before proceeding through an intersection. He just went when the other side’s light turned yellow. His driving skills were erratic and sloppy. He would slam on the gas pedal, take turns at crazy speeds and then slam on the brakes. It seemed like he was competing in a race the entire time, except he didn’t have the driving skills to drive at a racing pace through NYC traffic. His driving gave me motion sickness. Somebody needs to get this man off the road before he seriously hurts someone.
It was a nice experience.I will probably go with the same for my next travel.Only while returning shuttle was little bit late. But my car was fine and rest of the things wet very good.Overall i would recommend people to avail the facility,
The staff was courteous and my car was fine, but getting into the lot was complicated & waiting for the shuttle was not a good experience. We waited well over one hour both coming & going.
